Looking like a tailor made loser, John McCain and his dwindling support yesterday, lamely tried a preemptive oh pooh to Barack Obama’s 30 min. evening with America infomercial. McCain standing among the politically lame and the last of the loyal was reduced to bitching that the millions spent to give Americans a clear unfiltered view of Obama’s visions for the country was paid for by broken promises. With time running out and no real money to compete with, no real coherent and consistent message, no workable, innovative, cost effective plans to fix the nation’s ills, he is seemingly left only with his signature grimace, his twisted grin and a hot but idiotic vice presidential pick.
In reality, we wish we could actually say that Sarah Palin was still among the McCain loyalist, but contrary to John McCain’s best efforts to put a smiley face on the McCain/Palin ticket, stories persist that the Sarah doll is running amuck. Being called a Diva and a whack-job by campaign insiders, the general feeling now is that she has gone rogue for her own political future. In a sad sense, McCain looks like the John in an alley that got stiffed by a hooker giving him only half a hand job.
Armed with mega bucks donated to his campaign by hundreds of thousands of change seeking Americans, Obama crystallized his view of the country, connected with the citizenry and outlined his strategy for meeting the challenges the country faces. Airing on seven network and cable stations, Barack Obama used his vast resources much to the chagrin of Republican operatives to hone in on and speak directly to all the hot button issues the country is most concerned with.
The primary message of the 30 min. spot was to show his awareness and understanding of all the critical problems that need immediate attention and reform. Through a series of up close and personal stories of people that look like everybody we know, the program gave an honest portrayal of what life can be like when many Americans retire these days.
It showed graphically and grimly the realities of what it is like to spend the lion’s share of one’s fixed income on medication. It told the tales of the towns all over the country drying up because big business pulled up stakes leaving ghost towns in their wake. But more importantly, he highlighted the hopes, dreams, expectation and responsibilities of the working middle class.
After checking the early numbers it appears Sen. Obama got his monies worth as it seems many tuned in to get a last look at the candidate before going to the polls on November 4th. For those that are still claiming to be undecided, in our opinion, if last night’s program did not close the sale, then those voters can not be sold. If the undecided were looking for 30 min. of fireworks, with Barack Obama dispelling lies, answering charges and bashing the John McCain/Sarah Palin ticket, they would have been disappointed.
True to his style, Barack Obama used the time and opportunity to let the country know that he has seen their lives, shared their trials and tribulations and witnessed their sacrifices and sinking circumstances. He never once even brought up the names of McCain/Palin. The Republican ticket was almost made to appear irrelevant and unworthy of mention. This was, like many of his events, a dose of truth and reality for the country to rally around.
The message of the Obama infomercial was clear, concise, and full of concrete examples to solidify his complete comprehension of the country’s condition while providing rational solutions to assist it its repair. We know the big day is nearly upon us, and we also know we have not heard the last of the McCain/Palin slime machine. Without doubt, the ministry of dirty deeds (Fox News Corp.) are at this very moment, looking for an unnamed source to level another unsubstantiated accusation, a local terrorist to link the Illinois Senator to, or perhaps, another loud fouled mouth scurrilous preacher to claim a like minded allegiance with.
Since the McCain/Palin campaign have failed at everything else, they, the RNC and their legions of mindless flunkies have been left with the oldest trick in the book of underhanded politics; the disenfranchisement of Americans through voter suppression. And that we think is appropriate since John McCain is the oldest man to vie for the oval office. Vote smart America and vote as early as you can
