Hey New York, Lets Play Hooky Today! & (BTW) Alberto Gonzales Is A Lying Rat Bastard

Hey, we know we have been mailing in the last few shows and stooping far below our usual standard of mediocrity, minus common sense and coherency. Reason? We are staring a long awaited Miami vacation in the face and its rather difficult to focus. So to say that is going to change on this Friday would be a complete lie, considering the beautiful spring weather the east coast is predicted to experience today.

In fact we would like the take this opportunity to invite you and all you hold dear in your lives to call in sick, leave work early, or at the very least, have an extended lunch. Anybody that can’t see the value of appreciating and acknowledging the first gorgeous days of this precious season is an anal retentive asshole not worthy of your employment and or services.

This is New York folks, the capital of springtime hooky from work and school, the home of pretty weather fever, the bastion of reasons, excuses and great explanations for why you were away from the office on this clear, calm, bright, sun drenched, park bench beckoning, people watching, day. If you are having a difficult time finding away to get away today, you are not bright enough to call yourself a true New Yorker and should move to New Jersey.

However, we should also mention, that any employer, mid level manager or supervisor that accepts and or believes any of your best reasons, excuses or explanations for your absence today are also assholes not worthy of your employment and or services. So, enjoy yourself, as you have our permission to do so.

By the way, we do have a show for you today, but it should be noted it was done yesterday, as we anticipated the Gods of Hooky would require our presence and or attention to be engaged in non-work related activities. Click here to download or on air to stream

Did we forget to mention that Alberto Gonzales has been called a lying rat bastard by his former top aide? Did we forget to mention that U.S. military readiness is in the worse shape its been since Vietnam? Did we forget to mention that we are getting such conflicting reports from the mainstream media regarding on the conditions in Iraq, you would be better off getting your news from outside the regular news outlets? Well all that and more is in today’s podcast.

Wal-Mart’s Efforts To Take Bite Out of Big Apple Comes With Bitter Taste

This week’s Black Box Theater Review is incorporated into today’s podcast, as Bill Boggs’ Talk Show Confidential did not rate the necessary keystrokes for a formal review. Since Mr. Boggs’ cruise ship quality program geared toward the blue hair tinted little old lady demographic had all the appeal of watching a neighbors vacation slides of better times past and has mercifully closed , we only mention this much of the facts as a warning should Mr. Boggs try to resurrect this waste of efforts in the future.
In other news, Wal-Mart’s efforts to take a bite out of the Big Apple is left with a bitter taste, as local politicians, unions and residents, seek to discourage the retailing giant from setting up shop in the city because of it’s reputation for depressing wages benefits and unfairly attacking competition, leaving locals with low prices, but few choices.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is still shaking shitless over subordinates testimony tomorrow on Capital Hill and another opting for Fifth Amendment protections to avoid congressional questioning altogether.

The Senate has sent a pork filled message to the president: Veto This! Today’s show also includes another episode of Suspense; The Beast Must Die. Click here to download or on air to stream

The once maligned and vilified Al Jazeera News organization seems to have gotten their act together beating US news outlets at their own game.

In our coverage of Congressmen Maurice Hinchey’s Media Ownership Reform Act (H.R. 3302) that seeks to guarantee fairness in broadcasting, restore broadcast ownership limitations and invalidate media ownership deregulation for the public good, we discovered Jump TV, a relatively new internet broadcast outlet that offers up to 300 broadcast TV stations covering the globe save for North America. Our research also carried us to the Al Jazeera English television website seeking alternatives and found them to be as multimedia content heavy and professionally produced as any of the primary news out lets here in the states. In many categories, we found they surpassed American new outlets all together. They have a better and more extensive coverage of international news with an emphasis on maintaining a global perspective. It flat out seemed to have a smarter and more substantive feel to their productions.
American viewers consequently, are being short changed in their selections of news and related programming because of the media consolidation that has been allowed to occur over the last 20 years. Congressmen Hinchey’s bill, if passed will put a stop to the one sided point of view that has been established in many local markets as fewer and fewer owner’s takeover more and media outlets. Should Mr. Hinchey’s bill be defeated or placed on hold for a significant amount of time, the internet may be the best source of alternative and independent coverage of news, sports and entertainment available. We recommend you check them out.
Today’s podcast also includes another episode of Suspense; Night Revealed.

We Thing Former U.S. Attorney Sharon Eubanks Has But One Menu Choice: Fried Or Refried Gonzales

This Sunday’s talking head shows reveal little support for an embattled and constantly under siege Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. Sen. Chuck Hagel says he sees little chance of the Attorney General being effective in his position going forward with this cloud of suspicion hanging over his head. Sen. Lindsey Graham says Gonzales must come to the Hill and explain himself, as things were handled poorly at best because of a prevailing lack of confidence surrounding him. Sen. Graham did support the president’s right to exert executive privilege to preserve the privacy of presidential consultations with his advisors.
More damaging information was unearthed by channel 2’s Bob Schieffer and Fox News’ Chris Wallace as former U.S. prosecutor Sharon Eubanks delivered a crushing blow to Justice Dept officials indicating her efforts to secure a 130 billion dollar judgment against the tobacco industry was tampered with by superiors in order to have the judgment reduced. The implication here is that politics were allowed to enter the process to placate this lobbyist driven special interest group. Today’s featured video is two great episodes of Dangerous Assignment staring Brian Donlevy. This twin bill will be the leadoff for our week of cops and creeps week. While the Democrats and Republicans continue wrangling over the bills to fund the Iraq war and voting to subpoena White House staffers to appear before congress under oath to answer questions regarding the suspicious firings of top performing U.S. attorneys, John and Elizabeth Edwards, not so quietly gave the nation a lesson in love, commitment mutual respect, strength, selflessness and self sacrifice.
Making the announcement that the
John Edwards campaign for president would continue despite Elizabeth’s cancer battles, the couple showed an unbreakable unity, all too often absent from many married couples these days.
Elizabeth Edwards was courageous to say the least, as she stood before a bank of microphones and cameras to explain the circumstances surrounding her health predicament with John at her side ready to face an uncertain future together while keeping a focus on the need to change the course our nation is headed on. These are remarkable people that will give hope to those in similar situations; some with less resolve to cope with the stresses and strains, challenges such as theirs inevitable bring. Win loose or draw, this is a lucky duo!

White House Says; Going Once, Going Twice, Go To Hell. This Is Take It Or Leave It Time

Al Gore returned to Capital Hill yesterday to clue Washington law makers in on the warming threat facing the globe. While doing so, Al is blindsided, sidestepped and almost silenced by Sen. James Inhofe, as Inhofe tired quickly of former Sen. Gore, now Hollywood golden boy and Oscar winner, restricting him to yes or no responses since Al was prepared for and willing to give, mini speeches condemning the way America is contributing to the demise of the planet. Sen. Barbara Boxer comes to Gore’s aid as the new and improved Gore was willing to do lunch with his adversary to quell their differences.
In other news, Tony Snow made it clear that the president’s offer to allow White House staff to be interviewed by congress regarding the ousting of the U.S. attorney is his first and only offer. According to Snow, if said offer is met with subpoenas from Sen. Pat Leahy or more hounding from Sen. Chuck Schumer, said offer will be considered rejected and he will fight the issue in court. Our artist finds a artistic way to stop the music. Enjoy! Click here to download or on photo to stream

Desire in the Suburbs Reviewed

Desire in the Suburbs written by Frederic Glover and directed by Kathleen Brant, almost hit the mark for producing a good piece of theater in their efforts to pass off a work that almost has a strong storyline, with an almost good plot, with almost adequate character development and with an almost decent climaxing ending. I guess, that is why, I almost liked it.

This tale had all the elements; sex, lust, money, greed, and envy, as a loser son makes a play for his successful father’s new wife, to gain possession of a multi million dollar home including all the trappings, as revenge for the sudden and unexplained disappearance of his biological mother years ago. We are never sure if dear old mom number one really was a victim of foul play until the very end, and even then, the play’s finale seemed hardly worth the wait.

While the three actors put energy and passion into Mr. Glover’s words, said words lacked the punch, power and fervor that should have permeated the dialog to give the audience more to care about other than, cliché’ laced humor, which, albeit at least made the play almost funny. Considering little else was apparent to make the 90-100 minute production worth the effort, I think with some more time spent in the rewrite phase, Mr. Glover will have a play almost worth watching.

For those with almost enough money to see a real Broadway production, Desire in the Suburbs will have to do. In this case, the old adage; you get what you pay for applies big time.

So, if you want to have an almost good time at the theater this weekend, here is what you need to know:

Bush: We Ain’t Talkin See, You Got Nuttin On Us See, We’ll See Ya In Court See

Clouds thicken over the White House, as President Bush vows to fight senate Democrats over sending Karl Rove and Harriet Miers to Capitol Hill to testify under oath concerning the questionable firings of the now famous 8 U.S. attorneys. Acknowledging that mistakes were made, he is willing to accept Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to submit to a congressional grilling but will only allow light off the record chats, behind closed doors with Rove and Myers.
In other news, FBI General Counsel Valerie Caproni and Justice Dept. Independent General Glenn Fine, took a well deserved beating from House Representatives John Conyers Shelia Jackson Lee and Maxine Waters as they asked the tough question concerning the out of control use the Nation Security Letters to gather data on Americans not under suspicion of any particular crimes. Data gathered included but was not limited to phone records, banking transactions and emails from individuals’ internet providers. Even after said information was deemed unnecessary, much of that information is kept by the FBI without clear cause. Today’s podcast also includes another episode of Suspense; Sneak Preview.
