As The Fingers And Tongues Begin To Wag, NSA Guy Hadley Is Flunky Shopping While Rice Has No Paddle

Stephen J. Hadley, national security advisor to the president is covering his ass and his tracks as he tries to find some sucker to take the job of war czar. Only an asshole need apply, because nobody in their right mind would want this impossible, thankless, let the shit fall on me gig.
With former CIA director George Tenent lobbing accusations at the White House for their painting him and his crew as total screw-ups for the 911 attacks and the Slam-Dunk comments, Secretary Rice seems to be the black sheep being lead to slaughter as Henry Waxman is waving a subpoena in her direction for a chat under oath.

Rice appearing on all the Sunday talking head shows to get out front of the Sixty Minutes Tenentt interview, stated she not going to come to congress’ chopping block without a fight, citing the now familiar constitutional protections the White House enjoys.
In our opinion, the fingers are wagging in all directions now and it won’t be long now before one winds up in somebody’s butt; and George Tenent says in isn’t going to be his.

The Democrat Debate Is Fireworks Free Paul Wolfowitz Back In The Hot Seat And The Senate Passes Their D.O.A. War Bill

Paul Wolfowitz, the slimy character that misled this nation into a war with promises of a speedy end to hostilities and pre-paid with Iraqi oil revenues is now battling to keep his gig at the World Bank amidst allegations that he hooked his gal pal up with promotions and pay rises simply because he could. The “Wolfster”, fighting back and refusing to step down stating it’s the French and the Germans making a power play to kick him to the curb, while at the same time acknowledging that mistakes were made.

In other news, the senate passed their version of the war funding bill yesterday 51-46 and has it ready for the president’s planned veto early next week. The ball is now in the Democrats court as they will be forced to fall back on plan B if in fact the president rejects their efforts as advertised.

The Democrat’s debate went off without much fanfare, screw-up, or fireworks as for the most part everyone made clear efforts not to engage each other with any vigor as they all appeared to be running for the presidency and vice presidency at the same time, fearing to burn a bridge, save for Mike Gravel. More on this debate in Sunday special edition. Click here to download or on air to stream

John McCain Is Banking On The Wise Owl Beating The Whippersnappers

John McCain fails the whippersnapper test as he tried to push the restart button on his floundering campaign yesterday wearing a sporty shirt look and V-necked sweater pounding on a podium stating whatever is not good enough for America is not good enough for him.

While his words garnered reasonably respectful applause, his performance seemed stale stiff and rehearsed. If the nation is truly looking for a new way forward, featuring an energetic enthusiastic ethical approached to the future, John McCain’s efforts to establish himself as the wiser more experienced choice appeared to have fallen short as an option.
Taking a few potshots at the president’s handling of the Katrina fiasco and the Iraq war madness, he also fired a salvo across the bow of the “Good Ship Giuliani” referencing the ill preparedness of NYC during the 911 crisis. All and all, the best way to describe McCain’s campaign currently is slow growth, very slow.

In other news, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat controlled House of Representatives closed the deal late last night on the $124 billion war Bill 218-208 ripe for the president’s veto on Monday while the Senate preps for their matching Bill much to the chagrin of Republicans and their inability to do anything more than bitch, complain and pray that Bush don’t cave, as things continue to spiral out of control in Iraq.

The Sanitation Chronicles Reviewed

The Sanitation Chronicles starring Richard Bey, written by Paul Brno and Mary Baldridge is a great recommendation for some Black Box Theater this weekend. Closing this Sunday on a far too short run, this salty, dirty finger nailed, rumpled shirted comedy takes place in a New York city Sanitation Department garage, highlights the low lives of the invisible people that few pay attention to until they are on strike.
Richard Bey, of the longtime defunct Richard Bey show, a precursor to Jerry Springer plays Johnny, the lovable softhearted loser lending a hand in the lives of his co-workers to advise, cajole, and support the many problems all are having trouble dealing with because of a limited capacity to cope.

From the ex-boxer drag queen looking to establish a lasting relationship to the on the job junkie fearing the random drug test, to the Vietnam vet reliving his recon trips in the jungle to the neighborhood hooker dropping by occasionally to offer fantasy relief, to the ever present rebel rousing muckraking troublemaker, Johnny manages to maintain a balanced and open minded outlook on life while managing to keep his own demons of failure in proper perspective.
Brno and Baldridge give us this story of a down to earth look at life among the people who make the rest of society’s existence clean and bearable through compassion, wit, and a depth of human understanding.
If you want a real story about real people living anything but ordinary lives, then The Sanitation Chronicles will be right up your trash filled alley.

High Level Low Lives In U.S. Military Fail To Explain How And Why The Tillman CYA Hero Story Got Concockted

Ethiopian rebels kill 74 and kidnap 7 Chinese workers at a China owned and operated oilfield in the worst attack to date. Taking credit for the pre-dawn raid, the Ogaden National Liberation Front, stated they have been warning energy companies they will not allow oil and gas exploration in the area until the Ogaden people are have attain the right to self determination.

The Ethiopian government vowed to hunt down the perpetrators and bring them to justice and went on the state they have already assigned and appropriate force to handle the task.
The ONLF maintains they did not kidnap the Chinese workers, but stated they were removed from the battlefield for their own protection and were being treated well.

In our opinion, these types of conflicts will continue to occur on the African continent as long as the trust for oil remains at current levels by every growing nations competing for what seems to be a dwindling supply. Historically, Africa has been the natural resources playground for the world’s developed nations seeking to bolster their economies at the expense of small poor, defenseless and underdeveloped countries, rich in gold, diamonds and oil. Harry Reid Ain’t Taking Any Crap Saying Bush Is Giving Happy Talk From His Home State Of Denial

Senator Harry Reid came out swinging yesterday in response to the president’s “happy talk” when offering his assessments of the conditions in Iraq and review of the so called surge. Stating the president not only offered his comments in the state of Michigan but mostly in the state of denial. Reid went on to maintain, even though the president will likely veto the Bill congress has worked on to place before him, they will continue to pressure the administration to honor the commitments made to troop readiness and proper medical care for the returning wounded. He stated the Bill added needed funds to bolster those shortfalls the White House failed to address in their initial supplemental request for the Iraq war funding.

Additionally, while acknowledging the president is the commander in chief, Sen. Reid went on to outline the five point plan to offer a reasonable exit strategy from the bloody civil strife the troops are caught in the middle of, leaving a large enough force in the region to be able to rapidly respond to threats against American interest while continuing to carry the fight to not only Al Qaeda but anyone else making efforts to destabilize the region.

While nine more soldiers died as a result of another bombing and leaving twenty more wounded, five seriously the fight between the White House and congress is sure to persist as the Democrats with minor Republican support are poised to call the Administration’s bluff, by refusing to back down on the essentials of their Bill’s most important points; reasonable timetable for a military drawdown and concrete benchmarks the Iraqis must adhere to for further American support. The Sarkozy-vs-Royal Battle Begins In France, While Gonzo Remain On Fire And Harry Reid Heating up on Lost War Remarks

The French are looking to change the dynamic of their political landscape as the nation has a clear cut choice of direction in their final selection of Ségolène Royal or Nicolas Sarkozy for president. Royal, the socialist will square off against Sarkozy, the Bush Administration friendly conservative to decide the future direction of the country.
While Sarkozy has been a supporter of many U.S. policies, Royal has stated she’d be hard pressed to even shake President Bush’s hand before asking him to explain his administration’s actions on the world stage.
By all accounts a Royal presidency would probably match up well with a Democrat elected here in the U.S. in 08.

In other news, Alberto Gonzales continued to draw fire and renewed calls for his resignation over the eight fired attorneys prompted by his poor performance during his make or break senate hearings last week. While the Democrats seem to be relishing the moment, more Republicans just want to stop the bleeding and move on.
Senator Harry Reid is likely to take a lot of heat for his We’ve lost the war in Iraq remarks as the Republicans are ready to pounce on the Democrats can’t be trusted to support the troops mantra this week.

Attorney General Gonzales Takes A Grilling But Hearing Fails To Deliver The Expected Killing

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was beaten like a piñata by Democrats and Republicans alike yesterday as he lamely tried to defend his actions, involvement and control, or the lack thereof concerning the situation surrounding the ouster of the now infamous eight U.S. prosecutors. He was battered continuously by questioner after questioner in tag team fashion without the slightest hint of a softball query save for Sen. Orrin Hatch from Utah.

The session was long brutal and at times contentious whenever Mr. Gonzales made an effort to be combative, albeit mildly so. Sen. Arlen Specter lip lashed him without mercy when the Attorney General tried to argue over the degree of his preparation for the days hearings as well as his preparations for related press conferences suggesting, had Mr. Gonzales been properly prepared for his public statements over this issue, he would not be facing the calls for his resignation now.

While Sen. Chuck Schumer intimated there was no clear knockout punch delivered, surprisingly the one call for Gonzales to take a hike was from Republican Sen. Tom Coburn.
By all accounts, the Attorney General failed to impress many if any with is performance yesterday and there are ever surmounting doubts he will be able to keep his job as the nations top law dog. Supreme Court Take First Big Bite From Roe/Wade And Bloomberg Targeted By NRA

The Supreme Court put the breaks on partial term abortion yesterday and will surly be hailed as a victory of sorts from those trying to chip away at the 34 year old Row-vs.-Wade decision granting women the right to have an abortion.
In reversing course on
abortion, upholding the federal Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act in a 5-to-4 decision will undoubtedly reframe the abortion conflict and establish the direction of the Roberts court.
The crucial vote was that of newbie justice,
Samuel A. Alito Jr. Alito, in another 5-to-4 decision a few years back, his predecessor, Justice ’Connor, voted to strike down a similar state law. Alito had the tie breaker on this one, making the difference in Wednesday’s outcome.

In other news, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is under heavy attack from the NRA and their supporters for his stance on gun control. The mayor was portrayed in a potentially anti-Semitic caricature on the cover of their monthly magazine, using the imagery of an octopus and the bold words “tentacles”, a slur against Jews during the Hitler days as well as referenced is Hitler’s book Mien Kampf.
Our thoughts on the issue are simple, the NRA just don’t understand or care that New York City is unlike any place else in America. This is a town that under no circumstances can have anything remotely taking the 2nd amendment to its fullest appreciation. That right, those living in less populated areas of the country is simply impractical where so many different types of people are living so close together.

The mayor is doing what he can to reduce the number of illegal hands guns coming into the city and eventually ending up in the hands of criminals. In taking on that task, the mayor has run head on with states that have gun laws so relaxed it makes it easy for those to purchase weapons with the sole purpose of passing them on to elements that will use them in crimes and acts of violence. We fail to see that a reasonable compromise can’t be reached between well meaning entities.

If the supporters of gun ownership could find a way to work with our mayor and our police commissioner Ray Kelly instead of personal attacks, our streets will be safer and they can reserve their rights to bare arms where and when it practical to do so. Quite frankly, one would only have to ride a New York City subway on a hot Friday August afternoon to realize why can not be allowed to be strapped for self defense. Today’s podcast also includes another cool episode of Box 13; Triple Cross starring; Alan Ladd

Today’s feature film is Devil Times Five, starring Leif Garrett. In this 1974 R rated color classic, a bus transporting some kids from a nuthouse crashes killing the driver and freeing the nuts on board. They eventually make their way to a resort that’s closed for the season, and that is when the crazy fun begins. Enjoy! Click here to download or on photo to stream

Why Did The Virginia Tech Tragedy Happen And How Could Authorities Do A Better Job In The Future

Rather than wait to determine when the appropriate time to start the finger pointing and assigning blame for the horrible events that occurred on the Virginia Tech campus Monday, we are going to get the ball rolling by asking the tough questions of the authorities now.
If there was a killing on the campus at or near the 7:00 am hour, and the suspect was not in custody or the very least, his whereabouts still remained unknown, why was the school not placed on immediate lockdown until campus police and local authorities could be satisfied that there was no remaining threat to the faculty and student body. If the shooter of the first incident was still on the loose, basic common sense would have to consider the fact that this situation is not yet under control.

Why did the school think sending an e-mail to advise school officials and students would reach the largest number possible when at the time of the day this situation was playing its self out most people would be in class without access to that mode of communication.
We also would like to know what else would the former chairwoman of Virginia Tech’s English department, Lucinda Roy, have had to do to get Virginia Tech administration’s attention concerning the troubled student after sounding the alarm in everyway she could to advise them that Mr.
Cho Seung-Hui was a serious problem and a possible danger.

These are the questions we are starting the dialog with and hopefully, the answers will lead to significant changes that will lessen the possibility of events like this happening again, because in our opinion this incident was far more tragic than it had to be. More tomorrow!
