In an unprecedented effort to kick start the economy with a blast of borrowed cash, President Obama has turned Washington’s spend on the rich while soaking the middle class business model upside down. This blockbuster of a budget changes the way things have been done for so long, it has left the Republican naysayer crews scrambling for a fresh mantra. The dog-eared and shop worn “Democrats only know how to tax and spend” has no audience anymore,
especially, when the spending is being done on the people for a change.
With a long overdue form of universal healthcare on the horizon, much needed relief on the way for financially stressed homeowners as well as the unemployed and under employed, many in the middleclass are beginning to get it; the highest echelons of income earners should kick in their fair share to bring this nation from the brink of financial disaster. After all, it was this same protected class that caused the economic collapse in the first place.
However, even though we can see the Present getting high marks from the masses, he is sure to be blasted by the faceless wealthy elite’s flunkies, masquerading as fiscal conservatives in the House of Representatives and the Senate. The President was wise to take his case to the people for approval first as he is going to need their full support and total buy in if this plan has the very slim hope of turning the tide.
With people losing their homes, their jobs, their healthcare for themselves and their families, along all hope for some, it is going to be very difficult for the Republicans to mount any kind of serious campaign negativity without offering a real alternative. So far, they appear like a rudderless vessel with worried weasel Bobby Jindal at the helm.
Thus far, the President has kept the majority of his campaign pledges much to the chagrin of the Republicans. As promised, the President is winding down the war in Iraq, making moves to end the no bid contracts, reporting the real military budget, putting the screws to purveyors waste and fraud in the current healthcare system and cracking down on corporate loopholes, among a multitude of other changes. Finally, we got somebody in the White House that is not only going to level with the American people, but level the playing field in the process.
Do we think President Obama is going to make all our dreams come true? No F-ing way, but if were lucky, he might help us avoid some of our worst nightmares. Click here for the podcast
